Windows Backup Failed: "The filename, directory name, or  volume label syntax is incorrect."
I recently bought a Seagate 500gb Portable external harddrive, and plugged it into my laptop and ran a backup of all my files without a problem using the built-in backup feature in Windows 7. Then, a week or so later, I went to back it up again and got an error at the end saying that the backup failed and that: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." I have tried to backup again and again, always with the same result. I'm unsure as to whether this could be related, but after I did the first backup I installed Ubuntu 12.04 using the Wubi installer from within Windows. This is pretty important, so I would really appreciate any support on this. Thanks a lot, Jack

It is very difficult to answer your question, because of Ubuntu plays the role. Ubuntu uses Grub 2 but I do not know it this is the case of WUBI. There are two possible solutions: 1. Backup sector by sector (for example by Acronis) http://www.acronis.com/ 2. Address the Ubuntu community and place a question there http://www.ubuntu.com/community Regards Milos
